Martina Dike doesn’t just sing Wagner – she lives it. As one of Scandinavia’s leading dramatic mezzos, she brings power, warmth and intensity to every role, whether on the opera stage or the concert platform. A graduate of the Royal College of Music and the University College of Opera in Stockholm, she has built an international career spanning many of Europe’s foremost opera houses, including the Bayreuth Festival, the Royal Swedish Opera, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Frankfurt, Vlaamse Opera, Aalto-Theater Essen and the Latvian National Opera.
Recent highlights include her critically acclaimed portrayal of Ortrud in Lohengrin at Malmö Opera, followed by another acclaimed performance of the role with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra in Vilnius. During the 2026/27 season she also appears as Mary in Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman at the Birgit Nilsson Festival, continuing a career that has firmly established her among the Nordic region’s foremost dramatic mezzo-sopranos.
Her repertoire centres on the great Wagner heroines, including Ortrud, Brangäne, Kundry, Fricka, Waltraute and Venus, while also encompassing leading roles such as Eboli in Don Carlo, Amneris in Aida, Klytämnestra in Elektra, the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Mrs Sedley in Peter Grimes, Gertrud in Hänsel und Gretel and Gräfin Geschwitz in Lulu.
Alongside her operatic career, Martina is an established concert soloist whose repertoire ranges from Bach and Handel to Mahler, Verdi and Stenhammar. She has appeared with many of Scandinavia’s leading orchestras as well as internationally, combining a commanding dramatic presence with a warm, richly coloured mezzo-soprano voice.

Martina has collaborated with conductors including Sir Antonio Pappano, Christian Thielemann, Alan Gilbert, Tarmo Peltokoski, Joanna Mallwitz, Sebastian Weigle, Manfred Honeck, René Jacobs, Kent Nagano, Leif Segerstam and Neeme Järvi. She has appeared throughout Europe and North America at opera houses and concert halls including Bayreuth Festival, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Oper Frankfurt, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Vlaamse Opera, Aalto-Theater Essen, Tonhalle Zürich, the Latvian National Opera, the Royal Swedish Opera and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
As a concert soloist she has performed with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Tonhalle Zürich, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and the Milan Symphony Orchestra. Her extensive concert repertoire includes Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Messiah, Roman’s The Swedish Mass and Stenhammar’s Sången.
With a repertoire rooted in the German dramatic tradition while extending across concert, oratorio and contemporary music, Martina Dike continues to be in demand throughout Scandinavia and internationally.
