Ulrik Qvale was educated The Academy of Opera in Stockholm. He mede his debut as Prince Pietro in von Suppé’s Boccaccio at The Royal Opera in 1992. After that he has sung a wide variety of roles both at The Royal Opera and in other houses in roles such as Mime in Das Rhinegold and Siegfried and the king in Un Ballo in Maschera.
At the Norrland Opera he has sung Rodrigo in Otello, Captain in Wozzeck and Don Jose in Carmen. He also sang Don Jose in New York in a production by Folkoperan. In 2013 Ulrik sang Monostatos at Folkoperan and the same year he directed Tokfursten at Vattnäs Concert Barn, a production greatly praised in the press. In 2016 he directed Carmen at Dalhalla Opera and in the autumn 2017 he will sing the emperor Altoum in Folkoperan’s production of Turandot.
