Tobias Westman completed his studies at the Academy of Opera in Stockholm 2015. Already during his studies he participated in several concerts, for example in Vattnäs Concert Barn. He was also the male recipient of the Jenny Lind prize and performed at their 50th anniversary concert.
Apart from concerts he has sung roles such as Peter in Peters bryllup by J.P.A. Schults in the Potsdam Early Music Festival and Copenhagen Opera Festival, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte with The Sibelius Academy and Don Ottavio My brother Don Juan at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. In the summer of 2015 Tobias had great success as the young Jussi in Silverfågeln by Mats Larsson Gothe at the Vattnäs Concert Barn and later the same year he sang Albert in Korngold’s Die Tote Stadt at Wermland Opera.
In 2016 Westman sang Gennaro in Malmö Operas production of Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia. This year he is reinvited to sing Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
“Tobias Westman is a even bigger sensation as the enthusiastic and temperamental Jussi in his youth.”
Lars Sjöberg, Expressen
