Daumants Liepiņš is a young Latvian pianist, born in Ogre, Latvia, started to play piano at age of 5. He started winning prizes in numerous piano competitions already from a young age, including 1st prize in the National Piano Competition (2003) as well as 1st prize at Inese Galante young talents competition in 2014.
In 2017 Daumants Liepiņš was awarded the first prize in the Nordic Piano Competition. In 2016, he became one of top 6 pianists at George Enescu Competition, where he played 2 recitals LIVE on Medici TV what was broadcasted worldwide and later the same year, he won the 3rd Prize in The Fifth RNCM James Mottram International Piano Competition in Manchester, UK (WFIMC).
Daumants has performed with several symphony orchestras, including Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony orchestra and Kaunas Symphony orchestra. In 2016 he won the audition to perform Rachmaninov concerto no 3 with the symphony orchestra of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, this performance was nationally broadcasted on the radio, and in the end of the year received the Student Award of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
Daumants also got nominated to Latvian National Music Award category: ”Young musician of the year”. In February 2016 he was chosen to be one of 4 participants of Mitsuko Uchida Workshop in Carnegie Hall
