Amie Foon is currently employed at the Norrlandsoperan in UmeÃ¥, Sweden. She started the opera season with an monologue opera of Sofia Gubaidulina’s song cycle Galgenlieder, the season continued with Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Adriana Mater by Kaija Saariaho where Amie covered, and also was asked to jump in for the title role in 2023.
Alongside the opera engagements this season Amie will also participate in concert performances as a soloist with the Norrlandsoperans Symfoniorkester, as the alto soloist in the Christmas Oratorio by Bach and last year she sang a concert of opera arias with the orchestra which was a co-production with Sveriges Radio, broadcasted live on national radio. In 2021, Amie performed the role of Hansel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel in production by British Youth Opera and Silent Opera at Opera Holland Parks’s theatre. In 2019 she performed the role of Lily with the BBC Concert Orchestra at Grange Park Opera in their production of Gershwinʼs Porgy and Bess.
Her repertoire stretches from Monteverdiʼs Ottavia in LʼIncoronazione di Poppea and Mozart roles such as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Annio in La Clemenza di Tito, Carmen and Brittenʼs The Rape of Lucretia. Amie is a graduate from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in 2019 and the Stockholm University College of Opera where she studied the role of Dorabella in Mozartʼs Così fan tutte and the title role in Bizet’s Carmen.
